Juicing for Detoxing. Healthy Body from a Healthy Diet

Do you eat enough vegetables? Really? I don't think so. Recommendations call for three servings of green leafy vegetables and three more of legumes and other assorted. Not to mention 3 more servings of fruit. So, do you?
I do, with Vegetable Juicing. I find that it is a great way to achieve good health and get a generous serving of vitamins, fiber, amino acids, and of course Vegetables.
I have done some detoxing regimens. I found Dr. Hull's Program to be very good. Also everybody knows Master Cleanser. But I wanted something that would work on a continuing basis without me having to really "work" at keeping the toxins from accumulating. I turned to vegetables. I just adjust my ingredients so that I can target any area of concern. I use Cilantro on a regular basis to move heavy metals out of my system. I throw in some Beets to cleanse the blood. Garlic will boost the immune system and drive away any fungus, it also helps to thin out mucous and make it easier to expel. Cucumber will help clear up acne issues. The water from Watermelon and Romaine Lettuce help me flush all the dead stuff away.
The secret is not to let the toxins accumulate so you never have to detox.

Breakfeast Juice- Liquid Nutrion

For two people:

1 head of Romaine Lettuce
3-4 carrots
2 stalks of Bok Choy
Handful of Spinach leaves
1 small cucumber

This juice comes together real nicely. The carrots add just enough sweetness and with the cucumber there a little thickness too.

Vegetable Juicing

I never meant to be a hard core "Juicer." For years I refused to have anything to with my mother's offering of dark green liquid that she produced from the noisy contraption on her counter top. I was young and carefree, I could eat fast-food three times a day and be fine. Food was part of the whole sensual experience of being alive. If it wasn't fun I didn't do it. A glass of salad was not fun to me in my teens and twenties.
Alas, I've turned a corner. My thirties arrived with a thud. The decade just slapped itself around me, like a heavy new backpack. Suddenly my back hurts, my skin isn't so good. There really is a connection between my eating habits and my overall health. Who would have thought?
So I added a gym membership to my life and I consider my chiropractor to be a "good friend" as I see her so often. I started buying vitamins that I take by the handful but still only felt okay.
Then I started to Juice. Baby, I'm back. It is amazing how good you can feel when you don't even know that you were feeling bad. I firmly believe that most people are not tired or run down, they are nutritionally deficient, I know I was. I'll admit it isn't easy at first. My brother is a personal trainer and he has always juiced with my Mom. He gave me this piece of advice: "You just have to commit to vegetable juicing and have faith in the benefits, no matter how bad it tastes." Poor boy, I think my Mom's experiments might have crossed the line sometimes.
With his statement in mind I got Mom's extra juicer from the basement and headed to the produce market. Another excellent piece of advice: "forget the fruits." Yes it's true, fruit is the dessert of the health world. The last thing most people need is more sugar. Also I've read that many fruits are digested differently than vegetables, therefore it isn't always smart to mix the two. I told you vegetable juicing is hard core. The idea is to jam the nutrients of as many vegetables as possible into one serving. We consume the equivalent of two large salads by 8:00am.
Most people start with carrots. This is probably the easiest way to get the gist of things. Carrot juice is great tasting and surprisingly sweet . Its thicker than you think. As time goes on you have to move away from them and add more vegetables to the mix. I went with romaine lettuce, spinach , peppers, cabbages, beans, etc. (I will get around to posting some recipes). Most mornings the juice is quite tasty. I'll admit that some morning are rougher than others, but for the most part the juice is good tasting and satisfying.
My boyfriend and I start every morning with a big glass. I've come to learn so much about vegetables and nutrition. One someone is sick, I put a clove or tow of garlic in the mix- a guaranteed cure all! My boyfriend's foot pain has all but gone away in the the last few months. His feet used to bother him in the morning, shooting pains in the heels and arches. I have low back issues from years of being a waitress and I find that staying nutritionally balance really keeps trouble at bay. We both look great too. You know that healthy "glow" people mention, well we have it. I read some raw food guru who said that he can tell people who eat raw apart in a crowd, I think it is true. There is a healthy look that comes from juicing.
